Qing Hua Dumpling
|
Perhaps one of my all time favorites, Qing Hua offers fresh, hand-made dumplings at incredible prices. It may take a little practice to bite into these without getting scorching hot broth all over your face, but this is the most enjoyable kind of practice.
My personal recommendation is half steamed pork and coriander and half fried chicken curry dumplings. The menu is not vast outside of the dumpling domain, but you will not feel a lack of options. A large variety of dumplings with various fillings is somewhere in the $8 range for 15, which will leave you stuffed and absolutely thrilled. I cannot rave about this place enough. 2 locations: 1676 Ave Lincoln and 1019 Boul. St Laurent |
Kazu 1862 St Catherine St W
An authentic Isakaya in the heart of Montreal by the Concordia area, this unpretentious Japanese restaurant is no hidden gem. With only about 5 tiny tables inside, expect to wait in a line-up outside. Well worth the wait, even during a Montreal winter.
Icehouse 51 Roy EIcehouse is Montreal's answer to Tex-Mex. Super casual vibe with no plates although prices aren't quite as super casual. Just about everything is tasty, although I have yet to try the famous lobster burrito! Wash your meal down with a bourbon lemonade. Expect to wait in line during the weekend rush. No reservations. |
Burrito Shop 3686 B Boulevard St LaurentA fairly new establishment, this is authentic and cheap Mexican. Mexican is always lacking in MTL, however Burrito Shop is filling that void beautifully. You pick between salads, burrito bowls or burritos and then you choose your unique combination of delicious, fresh ingredients. I highly recommend the barbacoa beef in a burrito bowl with a horchata to drink! |
Olive et Gourmando 351 Rue St-Paul OuestTough to find a spot for a restaurant that fits into almost every category- brunch, cafe, sweets, lunch, you name it! Olive et Gourmando is an affordable, cozy establishment in Old Port offering amazing... everything. I highly recommend their chicken sandwich with avocado and an almond croissant. You really can't go wrong! |
GaNaDaRa
